Molokini Crater Snorkeling Information
Directions: Most tours leave out of Maalaea Harbor. There are a few out of Kihei Boat ramp and Wailea beach. Cost is about $80.00 a person and more if you want a skin suit.
Where to snorkel: Your guides will tell you the boundaries. Just remember you are close to a pacific current that will take you far away if not careful. If you are in the crater it is very calm and great visibility with nothing to worry about. The water is a little colder than on the beaches.
What to look for: There are a lot of large Moorish idols, Tang, and most other tropical fish. Keep an eye out for moray eels and sharks. The coral here is huge, colorful and plentiful.
Other Info: This is a great trip for 1st time snorkelers and everyone else. Although there are plenty of good snorkel spots that are free, everyone should do this trip at least once . The boats usually stop at Turtle Town on the way back.
