Honolua Bay Snorkeling Information

Honolua Bay

Directions: Head northeast on HI-30 E/Honoapiilani Hwy. It is about one mile past sign for DT Fleming Beach. You will pass the lookout to Honolua Bay and start descending downward. Park to the left anywhere along the highway. Look for a path to the forest trail. Follow the trail all the way to the beach. Don't worry all trails lead to the beach.

Parking: There is a parking lot located further up the highway, but fills up quickly (There are portable potties available here). Most park along the side of the road.

Where to snorkel: This is a rocky beach but entry is easy in the middle of the beach. You can snorkel the entire bay. This can either be a great spot or a bust depending on how much rain has fallen. A stream empties into the bay and can bring murky water.

What to look for: When clear this is an excellent place for turtles and most tropical fish.

Other Info: Even if snorkeling isn't the greatest on the day you go there, the walk through the forest is worth the trip. Just remember there are no facilities ( there are porta-poddies at the north parking lot) here and probably not the best spot for young children.
