Wai'anapanapa State Park
Black Sand Beach or Wai'anapanapa State Park is located a couple miles before Hana (Turn left off of Hana Highway to Wai'anapanapa Rd.) Follow the road to the parking lots.
Wai'anapanapa State Park is a huge area with a lot of activities. There are many trails leading to lava tubes, caves, the black sand beach, and other points of interest. The black sand beach is actually not sand but small black pebbles. You can swim when the water is calm. Snorkeling is possible (not that good) if the surf allows, but be careful this is also a favorite spot for Man of War and jelly fish. Camping is permitted in the camping area with reservations which you need to reserve at least 6 months in advanced.
